July 10, 2009 (Friday) "THERAPEUTIC BENEFITS OF YOGA: WHY YOGA WORKS" with Dale Buegel, M.D. - 7pm-8:30pm. All are welcome. $15. Yoga Society, 2410 N. Farwell Ave, Milwaukee, WI- see map- (414) 273-1621. The mechanisms for barrier change, repatterning of muscles, and effects of breath on the central nervous system will be presented in addition to learning how specific practices may help with health problems. July 17, 2009 (Friday) "STORIES OF THE GURU" with Ragani - 7pm-9pm. All are welcome. $20 requested donation. Yoga Society, 2410 N. Farwell Ave, Milwaukee, WI- see map- (414) 273-1621. Enjoy a rare presentation of incredible personal stories from Ragani's eleven years with her guru, Sri Swami Rama. This story-sharing workshop will offer insights and personal experiences of life with a guru, and ultimately, will serve to remind us of the guru that lies within us all. Evening will conclude with a brief kirtan chant with Ragani. We apologize that this venue is not wheelchair accessible.

July 25, 2009 (Saturday) "MAJOR TEXTS OF THE HIMALAYAN TRADITION" with Dale Buegel (Qualifies for 2 CEU credits with Yoga Alliance) 1:30-3:30pm. All are welcome. $25. Himalayan Yoga and Meditation Center, 109 W. Slade Street, Palatine, IL. What were the texts of theHimalayan Tradition thatwere emphasized by SwamiRama in his teachings? Dr. Buegel will discusssome of the principle lessons and uses of those texts in the Himalayan Tradition. We apologize that this venue is not wheelchair accessible.

August 1-15, 2009 (First Friday) KIRTAN WITH RAGANI AT RANCHO LA PUERTA (MEXICO)- Ragani and the local mariachi band will be leading kirtan events at the exquisite Rancho La Puerta resort spa as a part of Swami Veda's incredible yoga and meditation retreat program. In addition, Dale Buegel, M.D., will be offering ongonig lectures and workshops on the finer points of yoga and meditation. For more details, please visit Rancho La Puerta website.

August 21, 2009 (Friday) "MYSTICAL VISION AND HOW TO GET THERE" with Dale Buegel, M.D. - 7pm-8:30pm. All are welcome. $15. Yoga Society, 2410 N. Farwell Ave, Milwaukee, WI- see map- (414) 273-1621. Two paths of practice for attaining the balance of mind and prana with activation of sushumna awareness will be presented. One is based on the mastery of consiousness as it relates to the states of waking, dreaming, and deep sleep. The second relates to the balancing of ida and pingala, the left and right channels. These paths are embodied in the mantras, aum and aim as used in practices by the various yoga traditions of the world. We apologize that this venue is not wheelchair accessible.

August 22, 2009 (Saturday) KIRTAN PARTY WITH KAITA 5-9:30pm, Blue Lotus Farm and Retreat Center, 5501 County M, Newburg, WI see map. $30 donation (proceeds will go to humanitarian efforts in India). Vegetarian Indian fare included. Bring your swim suits & towels, and be ready to enjoy an evening of hiking, canoeing, swimming, walking the labyrinth, eating, and chanting with Kaita. Weather permitting, we will be chanting outside, so please bring a blanket for the evening. Alternate indoor facilities available in the event of rain (but we already put the request in early, so there won't be any rain).
