CD Production Schedule
For those of you who are curious about what takes so long (!)
in CD production, here's a little rough summary of the estimated
time frames for our production:
I. PRE-PRODUCTION:
(creating basic scratch tracks
and outline of chants)
2 weeks
(DONE)
II. RECORDING/EDITING:
(scheduling, actual
recording time and the
roughly simultaneous
editing/mixing process for
all tracks of musicians
and backup singers)
6 months
(DONE)
III. MIXING:
(the process of reworking
the tracks in concert with
each other and mixing it all
together-- the final formal
mix work takes place with
Dave Vartanian in his
VERY cool ProTools studio)
6 weeks
(DONE)
IV. MASTERING:
(addresses the final tonal
balances and dynamics
of each song and the
album as a whole-- takes
place in Trevor Sadler's
VERY cool studio
(floating floors and all!)
2 weeks
(DONE)
V. GRAPHIC DESIGN:
(creating CD cover,
traycard, and CD
brochure insert)
4 weeks
(DONE)
VI. REPLICATION:
(producing and packing 1000's
of our new kirtan CD's! We're
on the home stretch now!)
2-3 weeks
(DONE)
VII. CD RELEASE:
Delivery to you:
Immediately! :)
