Mount Kailash! Interesting... I observed during our trek that all the
rocks surrounding Mount Kailash were brown-gray, and yet Mount Kailash
itself was a stark black (under the snowy peak). So unusual! I wish I would
have been of more sound mind and taken a few more photos of this incredible site.
There was one place where we crossed the raging river-- the campsite we landed
in was right at the base of Mount Kailash. I recall that it was absolutely breath-taking,
though I could hardly stand up to appreciate it! I was so exhausted from walking the
11km at 17,000 feet that day (and there were two more days to go!), that I could
barely eat, and I fell over onto my sleeping bag for another sleepless night of
no oxygen... And then there were the incessant yak bells outside our tent...
