Gangotri trip (India)
Gangotri is a powerful location with an altitude of 11,500 feet. If you are making a pilgrimage to the source of the Ganga river (in Gomukh), you will pass through the holy land of Gangotri. One of the yogis we met at Gomukh (13,500 feet altitute) was living at the bank of the Ganga, where the glacier meets the icy river. As you can see in the
photos below, this sadhu only wore a small cloth (we were wearing winter parkas as you can see!), despite the cold temperatures. Though this man had been in silence for over seven years, and he communicated to us in writing and with hand gestures. His gaze, as Dale observed, was the kind of gaze that you could feel inside... transforming you. He
wanted to know if our inner eye was opened. Indeed, many hidden sadhus
and yogis share the mystical land they call Gangotri...

Our trek though Gangotri was filled with divine visions!

One summer during my days in Swamiji's ashram, Swamiji said that he was bringing
a music teacher from India for me. The teacher was Laxmi Narayan Tiwari, and he later became my Rakhi Bhai (brother). So that summer of 1991 I went to Curacao to live with the Boolchand's lovely family and to study music. I would make tapes of my music and send them to Swamiji, and he would call late morning every day to hear how the music
was progressing. I could hear our music playing in the background when he called me-- what dreams those were! He was such an inspiration to me for all my heartfelt dreams, and I'll always remember those days.
