For those of you who loved these cookies at the fundraiser--
here's the recipe! :)

GINGER COOKIES - Spicy!

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar (or raw)
1/2 cup molasses
1 egg
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup non-fat dry milk solids
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
2-4 tsp. ground ginger (adjust according to how spicy you want them!)
1 tsp. cinnamon
1-2 tsp. turmeric (optional)*
1 T. Ashwagandha powder (optional)*
Additional raw sugar

Cream butter and brown sugar 'til fluffy, then beat in molasses and egg.
Mix all dry ingredients (spices, etc.) into the flour. Add the flour mixture
to the wet mixture and mix until well blended. Form the dough (it will be soft!)
into walnut-size balls and roll in the additional raw sugar. Place 1-2" apart
on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes, or until
the cookies are lightly browned and the tops are cracked.
Makes about 3 dozen cookies.

Hint for storage: These cookies can get a little hard when they
are stored, so I always store them in an airtight container and place a few small
pieces of raw apple in there with the cookies. The apple pieces give off just
enough moisture to keep the cookies soft and delicious! :)

* I add these spices to all my cookies for good health! :) The Ashwagandha powder
is actually an Ayurvedic herb for strength and good health. Of course, they taste
really great without these spices too!
